You’re Amazing – Ornate Garden

Hello There!

I’ve got another card made with the early release, Ornate Garden, which became available to order just yesterday.  I hear it’s been a super-hot item since its release about 24 hours ago and Stampin’ Up is already telling us their inventory is running low.  So, please act quickly if you want it NOW, otherwise, it will be on backorder and the wait will be longer.   I absolutely love everything about this suite.  The papers are so pretty; the two stamp sets are so versatile; and the dies… oh my goodness, I love fancy borders and layers, so these are right up my ally!  The paper is full of gold metallic highlights, so you might consider adding some gold foil sheets to go along with these papers.

Let’s get started!

Card Recipe:

Start with Cajun Craze cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half to make a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card.

Use the border die in Ornate Borders on the lower front of the card stock as illustrated.

Cut a piece of the yellow-background daisy DSP from Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper pack at 3 3/4 x 5 1/4″

Do NOT adhere it to your base yet, we need to assemble the whole panel first.

Cut a piece of the Old Olive with metallic gold DSP also at 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.  Now measure 1″ from the top left corner, both top and side; and 1″ from the bottom right corner, both top and side.  Lightly draw a line connecting the corners as illustrated below, and cut with trimmer.

Discard the two triangle pieces (for another project), as we will use only the center strip on this card.  Adhere the center strip on the yellow daisy panel matching up the corners.

Cut two strips of gold foil paper at 6″ x 1 3/4″ and use die also from Ornate Borders to cut two strips.

Now adhere the gold die-cuts to the diagonal seams, allowing some overhang.

Using a paper trimmer, line up the edges of the panel with the cutting ditch and carefully trim off the extra overhang.

Cut a 5″ piece of Cajun Craze ribbon and fasten vertically 1″ from the righthand side of the panel.

Now cut a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and 1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut with dies from Ornate Layers as pictured.

Stamp the sentiment from Ornate Thanks using a Stamparatus.  For those not acquainted with the Stamparatus, lay the stamps down on your paper for placement, use a magnet to hold your cardstock in place, and then close the “lid” on the Stamparatus to pick up the cling or photopolymer stamps.  Ink your stamps and close the lid again for perfect placement right where you want it!  I seriously didn’t plan this, but as you can see, on my first attempt, the “T” on Thanks didn’t stamp completely.  Because my cardstock is held in place by the magnet and stamps remain in place, I can simply re-ink my stamps and close the lid again for a perfectly aligned second attempt.  No more ruined cards/panels because of imperfect stamping!!!

Lay the stamps on your cardstock which is held by included magnet

Close the lid and then reopen to pick up the stamps

Ink your stamps and close the lid

Oops!  Not perfect, so just re-ink your stamps and close again … Much better!!

Adhere the white sentiment panel to the Cajun Craze die-cut mat.  Center the stack and adhere to the front panel.

Now you can adhere the whole panel to the front of the card base.

Cut a few flowers using the dies from Ornate Borders and place where you like on the front of the card.  Use varied sizes of the gilded gems for the flower centers, according to the size of your flowers.

Cut 6″ of Cajun Craze ribbon and tie a small bow to adhere to the ribbon on the right side of the panel.

For the inside of the card, cut a Whisper White panel 5 1/4″ x 4″ and a 5 1/2″ x 1/2″ strip of gold foil paper.  Adhere the white panel and place the gold strip at the very bottom of the card so that it shows through the bottom die-cut edge.  Stamp your sentiment from Ornate Thanks, and the small flower from Ornate Style.  Flower was colored with Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.  The tips of the leaves were highlighted with Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blends, as was the center of the flower.

I’ll be back tomorrow…

Stay safe and healthy, and while you’re cooped up at home through this pandemic I hope you’re able to get some creative time in… get a little inky today!
