I was looking at the calendar today and realized that Mother’s Day is just one month away!!!
I’m a great procrastinator who’s trying very hard to change her ways. With the realization that there are less than 30 days to go, I decided it was time to start making Mom’s Day plans now.
How about you? How do you typically celebrate Mom’s Day?
We quite typically pack up a picnic lunch and head for the coast. The Oregon coast can be quite cold and windy, however; so plans are subject to change. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved looking in the tide pools and identifying who’s living there.
The rocks are slick and, of course, timing is everything. I wouldn’t want to get stuck out there with the tide coming in!
At any rate, I figured I’d start working on some Mother’s Day cards to hopefully inspire you to start making plans also!
Today’s card is square at 5 ¼”. I should note that a square card does require extra postage – just so you’re aware in case it’s going in the mail! I bought a package of 5 ½” square envelopes off the internet which fit this card perfectly.

Card Recipe:

Card Front:
Colors and Measurements:
Card Base: Flirty Flamingo cut at 10 ½” x 5 ¼”; score at 5 ¼” and fold in half.
Mat 1: Woodgrain Textures DSP (unfortunately no longer available) 5 1/8” x 5 1/8”
Mat 2: Whisper White CS 5” x 4”
Flowers: Scraps of Whisper White
Card Inside:
Mat 1: Woodgrain Textures DSP 5” x 5”
Sentiment panel: Whisper White 4 7/8” x 4 7/8”
Directions:
- To create the ombre effect main panel, using a sponge and Petal Pink ink, start at the bottom of the CS and sponge ink over entire panel, getting lighter as you go up.
- Next use Flirty Flamingo ink, again, starting at the bottom and working up, getting lighter as you go up, and blend at a diagonal into the Petal Pink.
- Finally, using Lovely Lipstick ink, start at the bottom, and blend just partway into the Flirty Flamingo, again at a diagonal.
- Use the “cross-stich” (XXXXX) edgelit die from “Stitched Labels” along both 5” sides.
- Stamp the three-petal stamp from Floral Essence 4 times on Whisper White CS in Flirty Flamingo, and 2 times in Lovely Lipstick.
- Punch out each image with the Perennial Flower punch.
- Glue the flowers together, using 2 punches for each, off-setting the petals.
- Using the “Sprig” punch, punch out 3 sprigs from Pear Pizazz and 3 sprigs from Mossy Meadow.
- Stamp the “Happy Mother’s Day” from “Dressed To Impress” on Whisper White CS and use the label die from “All Dressed Up” to create your sentiment tag.
Let’s Put It Together! 
- Center and adhere the Woodgrain DSP to the card base front.
- Adhere your sponged ombre panel on top of the DSP, keeping it to the right side.
- Use a small glue dot in the center of each flower and adhere in a small cluster, keeping to the left side of the card front.
- Now apply glue and carefully slide the greenery sprigs under the flower petals, arranging as you like. (The flower petals are not glued down so it’s easy!)
- Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up your sentiment tag.
- Finish off with graduating sized Pearls in the bottom right corner.
Finish off the inside of your card with the Whisper White sentiment panel on top of the Woodgrain DSP mat.

Start making those Mother’s Day plans now! Our Mom’s are pretty special and should be honored each and every day, but making the extra effort on Mother’s Day lets her know how much she’s appreciated in a big way!!!
