Easter Greetings with Fable Friends
Hello Friends!
I’m still working at a hectic pace on Easter cards; it’s time to get them in the mail! Today’s card is slightly more labor-intensive but oh-so-cute with the little rabbit image from Stampin’ Up’s Fable Friends. I used the Small Bloom Punch which was available during Sale-A-Bration (which is over now ☹), but rumor has it that the Small Bloom Punch is going to be carried over into the new 20-21 Annual Catalog which will be unveiled in June – we’ll see if the rumor is true!
Springtime never fails to make me want rabbits again (and chickens, and ducks, and a kitten, and more horses…..). I raised rabbits in my youth and my kids raised and showed rabbits in 4H for many years. They’re so, so cute and make all kinds of great fertilizer for the flower beds and garden!
Not that we need anymore fertilizer… we have a never-ending supply with our horses and cows! ***Anyone that lives local and would like some great fertilizer/compost, we can hook you up! 😉 (My husband will even load it with the tractor!)
But I digress…
Let’s get on to today’s card… (I still need to make a few more for sending!)
EASTER GREETINGS CARD WITH FABLE FRIENDS
CARD RECIPE:
Colors and Measurements For Card Front:
- Whisper White (Card base, image panel, sentiment tag)
- 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼” and folded in half (card base)
- 4 ½” x 3 ½” (image panel)
- 2 ½” x 1 ½” (sentiment tag)
- Petal Pink (Embossed window front panel)
- 5 ¼” x 4”
- Highland Heather (Punched flowers x 3)
- 1 ½” x 4”
- Purple Posy (Punched flowers x 3)
- 1 ½” x 4”
- So Saffron (Punched flowers x 6)
- 1 ½” x 7”
Colors and Measurements for Card Inside:
- Petal Pink (inside mat)
- 5 ¼” x 4”
- Whisper White (sentiment panel)
- 5” x 3 ¾”
Directions:
Card Front:
- Using the largest oval from Stitched Shapes Dies (3 ¼”), place die on Petal Pink panel about ¾” from the top and run through your Big Shot.
- Place the window panel in the Basket Weave 3D embossing folder and run through Big Shot again with the blue 3D Embossing Folder Plate.
- Stamp the rabbit image from Fable Friends in the center of the white image panel in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- Using Garden Green ink pad, stamp the grass stamp from Fable Friends about the rabbit’s feet.
- Using the flowering grass stamp from Beautiful Moments, use the marker-to-stamp method of coloring on the stamp to achieve the dual color. I used Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker for the stems, and Highland Heather Stampin’ Write marker for the flowers. Stamp near the rabbit image on the left-hand side.
- Stamp the butterfly images from Beautiful Moments in Memento Black ink.
- Color the stamped images. I used the combo set (dark and light) of Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends for the rabbit with a little bit of Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends at the base of the inside of his ears, blending it up into the Light Crumb Cake. Jacket is colored with Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blends, and Light Smoky Slate was used for the buttons. Butterflies are Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends. I filled in the Highland Heather flower stamp with Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker.
- Attach the image panel to the backside of the Petal Pink embossed window panel.
- Punch the flowers from So Saffron, Highland Heather, and Purple Posy cardstock.
- Use the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool to score the center of each flower petal and then gentle pinch the petal to create some dimension.
- Adhere the flowers around the oval window.
- Apply the metallic pearls to the flower centers.
- (HINT – I find it easiest to use the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool to pick up the metallic pearls and then slide them off onto the flower centers.)
- Stamp the “Easter greetings” stamp from Fable Friends on Whisper White CS and then center the label die from Stitched Labels over the image and run through the Big Shot.
- Center the label under the oval and ahere.
- Now adhere the entire stack to your card base.
The front of the card is now complete!
Card Inside:
- Stamp the cross image and sentiment from Easter Promise in black ink to the Whisper White sentiment panel.
- Stamp the butterfly from Beautiful Moments in black ink also.
- Color the cross with Purple Posy Stampin’ Write marker, the leaves in Garden Green Stampin’ Write marker, and the butterfly with Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.
- Adhere the sentiment mat to the Petal Pink inside mat.
- Adhere the stack to the inside of the card.
And that one is done! I hope you like it. Are you getting all your Easter plans in order? It’s just around the corner now!!
