Happy Easter With Easter Promise

Clean and Simple Card Design

Hello Friends!

Can you believe Easter is just right around the corner? It feels like we were just celebrating New Years a couple days ago, and yet, we’re a quarter of the way through the year already. I guess that’s just proof that “time flies when you’re having fun”.

We generally have the whole family come to our place after church on Easter for a big outdoor egg hunt. Our family gave up on a formal Easter dinner several years ago, as our family has gotten so large. Instead, my husband smokes up a batch of chicken (can I say YUM!), we build a fire in our fire pit, pull the chairs around, and have an old-fashioned hotdog roast. Everyone brings a side dish or dessert, and we feast on smoked chicken and hot dogs following the egg hunt, while sitting around the fire. Not traditional I suppose, but it’s become our new family tradition and we all enjoy it very much!

This year’s going to be a little different unfortunately. I guess we’ll be doing Easter service via Facebook Live at home. We’ll surely miss getting together, but in the big picture it doesn’t change the fact that Jesus died on that cross for our salvation and rose again that beautiful third day. Hallelujah! His grave was empty, and nothing can steal the joy and celebration of that!!

It was the realization that Easter is just barely more than a week away that prompted today’s card. Time to get those Easter cards in the mail my friends!

So, let’s get on with it!

Card Recipe:

Stamp Sets Used:
• Easter Promise
• Marbled

Colors Used and Measurements:
• Blushing Bride – card base
5 1/2” x 8 1/2” – score at 4 1/4” and fold in half to create 5 1/2” x 4 1/4″ card

• Peaceful Poppies DSP – horizontal “belt”
1 3/4” x 4 1/4″

• Whisper White – mat 1 and die-cut image panel
Mat 1: 4” x 2 1/4″
Piece for die-cut: 4” x 2 1/4”
Inside sentiment panel: 5” x 3 3/4″

• Daffodil Delight – Front sentiment panel and mat for card inside
Front sentiment panel: 4 1/4” x 2 1/2″
Mat for card inside: 5 1/4” x 4”

Directions:
Card Front:
• Using the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder, place the left side (front) of your Blushing Bride card base into the embossing folder making sure to line up the crease with the edge of the folder. Run it through the Big Shot.
• Attach the Peaceful Poppies DSP horizontally across the front, about an inch from the bottom.
• Using the Marbled background stamp and Daffodil Delight ink, stamp the Daffodil Delight mat 2.
Hint – when using the very large stamps, I find it easier to lay the stamp on it’s back, ink it up, then carefully lay the paper on the stamp and give it a gentle “massage” (being careful not to move the paper around), then pick up the paper and wa-la, a perfect image.

• Place your now-marbled Daffodil Delight (mat 2) into a Stamparatus and carefully place the “Happy Easter” stamp from the Easter Promise set at the top of the mat where you want it. Close the lid to pick up the stamp, ink it up, and close it again for the impression.

• Adhere the stamped Daffodil Delight mat 2 to the Whisper White mat 1.
• Now adhere that stack to the front of the card, centering it.
• Stamp the flower image from Easter Promise in the middle of your Whisper White piece, color the image (I used Stampin’ Blends as follows: Light Old Olive for stems; Dark and Light So Saffron for flowers; and Light Poppy Parade for flower centers.)
• Using the appropriate-sized die from Stitched Nested Labels, center it over your image and run it through your Big Shot.
• Adhere that die-cut centered over the DSP band and the Daffodil Delight.
• Wrap a piece of White Polka-Dot Tulle ribbon around the card front on the left and tie in a bow; trim the ends.
• Apply a Flower Faceted Gem alongside the “Happy Easter” sentiment.
• Your card front is complete!

Card Inside:
• Stamp the cross image and sentiment from Easter Promise on the Whisper White inside panel as pictured.

• Adhere to the Daffodil Delight inside mat.
• Adhere stack to card inside.

I hope you like the clean and simple design of this card and can get some Easter cards in the mail to family and friends!

Here’s to hoping you find time to get a little inky today!
