Countdown to Mother’s Day

With Mother’s Day just one week away, it’s time to get your Mom’s Day cards made (if you haven’t already) and in the mail (if needed)!  I posted a couple of Mother’s Day cards a few weeks ago, click here  and here to see those, but with it right around the corner now, thought I would return my attention to making more!

Today’s card is soft and feminine, highlighting the Parisian Blossoms Designer Series Paper (retiring June 2).  The papers are double-sided and each one features one side with metallic highlights.  It’s difficult to capture the pretty metallic accents in the pictures, but it’s really very striking “in-person”.

I used the scalloped edge die from “Seasonal Layers” to create the separation between the two sides of the DSP.

The “Seasonal Layers” die set is on the retiring list, along with it’s coordinating stamp set “Colorful Seasons” and will be gone for good as of June 2.   This set is so useful for all four seasons, and the sentiments are fantastic.  I think the “Just Breathe” stamp is one of my favorites of all time!  And oh, the dies – the leaves, the snowflakes, and by far my favorite, the “Adirondack” style lawn chair is so cute!  Check it out!  If you don’t have this set, it’s truly one you might consider!

But, back to the card…  The cherry blossom “branch” is from “Forever Blossoms” and thankfully, it is NOT on the retiring list.  This is a beautiful set for wedding cards, anniversary cards, etc.   Both the front and inside sentiments are from “Strong and Beautiful” (and thankfully is not retiring either!)  I love this set, so great for Mother’s Day cards and cards of encouragement for females!

Let’s Get INKY!

Measurements and Colors

Card Front:

Pool Party CS for the card base:  5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″.

Parisian Blossoms DSP (this is front and backside of one paper) each cut at 5 3/8 x 2″

Whisper White CS:  5 3/8″ x 1″ and run through Big Shot with scallop edge die from Seasonal Layers.

Silver Foil Sheet:  5 3/8″ x 1/4″

Cherry Blossom Branch image from Forever Blossoms was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White CS.

I used Stampin’ Blends in Petal Pink (combo), Old Olive (combo), and Light Crumb Cake to color the image, and then used the coordinating metal die from Cherry Blossom Dies to cut out the image.

I popped the image up with dimensionals and added a piece of 1/4″ Petal Pink Metallic Edged Ribbon (also retiring June 2) tied in a bow.

The “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment from Strong and Beautiful was stamped directly on the DSP using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I like to use my Stamparatus for this type of stamping, as I had already glued my papers down.  If I made a mistake now, i.e. didn’t get a good impression, I’d have to start all over.  Using the Stamparatus allows me to re-ink and re-stamp perfectly if needed, as well as allows me to place the stamp exactly where I want it to be, ensuring it’s straight and aligned just how I want it.  No mistakes… I love that!!!

Card Inside:

Whisper White CS cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″

Parisian Blossoms DSP strips (2) to trim the sides were cut at 4″ x 1/2″.

Again, the sentiments are from Strong and Beautiful and stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I think this is a very feminine and pretty card.  I love the font that Stampin’ Up! used for these sentiments, so pretty!

Until next time!

Janet
